African name for the bag is ‘Kiondo’ It is hand by woven by African women from sisal fiber and in some instances modern knitting wool is used. The African woman is known to use the bag as an ‘all purpose bag’ including: as a purse, harvesting bag, market going bag etc. Its a traditional artifact that has not survived modern times as can be seen from the Zipper and inner linings. Most of the bags are made by the Akamba community found in Eastern Kenya.
